O Spouse of Lord Siva – wearer of digit of moon - enemy of lotus! O Mother! Deign to show mercy on me.

In my mind (madini), I fully (nera) trusted (nammiti) that (anE) You (nIvu) (nIvanE) are the prop (AdhArivi) of innumerable (anEka) Worlds (jagat) (jagad-AdhArivi); and (kAni),
I shall beseech (vEDudunE) Him (rAma) (Atani) (to convey to You) that (anucunu) You need not (vaddu) (vaddanucunAtani) at all worry (encanE) (literally think) in Your (nI) mind (madini) (madinencanE) as to (ani) what (Emi) He (vADanO) (vADanOyani) would say (anE) (kAnEmanE);
Enough (cAlunE) of slander (cADi) heard (vinE) about me (nAdupai); I am (nEnu) indeed eligible (pAtruDu audunE) (pAtruDaudunE) for Your (nIdu) compassion (dayaku), O (Blue) Lotus (kuvalya) Eyed (nayanE)!
O Mother whose waist or hip (jaghanE) is adorned with fine garments (su-vasana)! O Mother with moon (vidhu) like (nibha) face (vadanE)!
O Spouse of Lord Siva – wearer of digit of moon - enemy of lotus! O Mother! Deign to show always (santatamu) mercy on me.

(There is no need for You to worry as to what SrI rAma would say if You show grace towards me. I shall beseech SrI rAma to convey this to You. Enough of slander heard about me; I know I am eligible for Your compassion.)

O Mother! I trusted (nammitininE) that (ani) You (nIvu) (nIvani) are the destroyer (vidAri) of the (fruits) of actions (karma) committed (jEsina) unknowingly (teliyaka) due to conceit (madamuna)!
I begged (dAnamu aDigitinE) (dAnamaDigitinE) You to bestow (immani) devotion (bhaktini) (bhaktinimmani) to Your (nI) Lotus (aravinda) Feet (pada yugaLa) (padAravinda); why (Emi) wouldn’t it occur (tOcadu) (tOcadEmi) to You (nIku) to oblige me, O Generous (udAri) one?
It is not appropriate (rAdu) for You to conceal (dAca) Your (nI) compassion (dayanu); are You short of hearing (cevulu vinadA) when I ever (sadA) entreat (moralu iDa) (moraliDa) You being without (lEkanu) any refuge (dari) or support (dApu)? Who else (evarudA) will protect (brOturu) me now (ika) (brOturika), O Beloved (hitE) (literally affectionate) of sadA-Siva!
O Spouse of Lord Siva – wearer of digit of moon - enemy of lotus! O Mother! Deign to show always (satatamu) mercy on me pleasingly (mudAna).

O Mother parA Sakti! It is not appropriate (rAdu) that my (nA oka) (nAyoka) mind (cittamu) should be perplexed (tallaDilla) (literally be anxious) like (vidhamu) water (droplet) (nIru) on the Lotus (tAmara) leaf (Aku) (tAmarAku); what (Emi) is the benefit (phalamu) of so being (andunaku) (andunakEmi) perplexed, O Mother who is half (ardha) the body (SarIri) of Lord Siva – enemy (vairiki) of cupid – slayer (ari) demon Sambara (SambarAri)!
O Wearer (dhari) of digit of moon (rAja)! It is not appropriate (rAdu) for You (nIku) now (ika) to abandon (viDuva) this tyAgarAja (tyAgarAjuni) (tyAgarAjunika) who considers (anu) (literally say) that it is not proper (rAdu) to think (enca) otherwise (vEru) (vErenca) due to (possible) envy (maccarAna) between rAma (rAmuniki) – who is (agu) the ancient (purANa) Lord (purushuDu) (purushuDagu) - and that (A) (rAmunikiyA) Lord Siva – destroyer (ari) the three fortresses (pura) (purArikini).
O Spouse of Lord Siva – wearer of digit of moon - enemy of lotus! O Mother! Deign to show always (satatamu) mercy on me.

(My mind is perplexed like a water droplet on the Lotus leaf. There is no benefit in that. I consider that there is no envy between Siva and vishNu. Therefore, You should not abandon me.)

4 - Atani vEDudunE – In some books, ‘Atani’ (Him) in this caraNa has been taken to refer to SrI rAma. This seems to be appropriate because, in the third caraNa, SrI tyAgarAja mentions about the possible envy (jealousy) between vishNu and Siva.
